The complications of family immigration to the United States

Immigration to the United States brings a host of various complications that must be handled appropriately, preferably by a legal professional with experience in this area of law. As one family near New New York learned, family immigration is a difficult and frustrating process, even when following the appropriate steps. This process is particularly complicated for families in which one spouse is a naturalized citizen and the other is not.

In this particular family, the husband is a citizen, but the wife recently returned to Guatemala to complete the citizenship process. She originally fled her home country to get away from violence. The husband is raising their daughter as a single father, working two jobs to provide for the two of them. In the meantime, the wife is trying to get back to the United States, despite the fact that she has been granted hardship status.

Advocates for immigration have stated that the individuals responsible for reviewing applications for re-entry are overly aggressive in seeking and finding reasons to deny or delay the applications. They say that the broader emphasis on immigration reform and control has resulted in punishing individuals who have valid claims for green cards or re-entry approval. While these people wait, much like this family, loved ones must live apart, some far away from needed medical care in the United States.

When facing complications resulting from the family immigration process, a person or family would be wise to seek assistance from a New York attorney experienced in family law. With the appropriate legal help, it may be possible to find a reasonable, expedited solution for these legal concerns. After a complete case evaluation, the appropriate legal response to an immigration concern will be identified.
