Pop singer acquires permanent resident status

It's been a long road, but pop singer Izzy Azalea has finally reached her goal. The singer announced via social media that she was granted green card status in the United States. Individuals in New York working toward permanent resident status may be encouraged by the singer's achievement, knowing that the option could be granted to them in the future.

Ms. Azalea was born in Australia and immigrated to the United States in 2006. She lived in several U.S. cities, and finally chose to reside on the West Coast for the entertainment business. Along the way, she achieved music fame with top hits and features with other artists.

Iggy said that she had been working toward her goal for 12 years, and during that time she had paid taxes similar to any other citizen. The pop star also said that she intended to celebrate by purchasing a Rolls Royce. Since being granted the status, she will be able to live and work in the country indefinitely.

A permanent resident is not the same as a citizen. The resident will be able to lawfully reside in the United States, but will not have the right to vote and will remain a citizen of his or her native country. Some individuals achieve the status through sponsorship by another person. A person in New York seeking permanent residency may require some additional guidance. Many choose to consult with an immigration attorney who can guide them through the lengthy process of gaining lawful resident status.
